Rijksmuseum Amsterdam

Rijksmuseum is the famous national museum that has a focus on arts & history. The museum is close to the Van Gogh Museum & Stedelijk Museum.

Originally founded in The Hague, the museum was moved to Amsterdam 8 years later in 1808, to the Royal Palace. The building that currently hosts these fine objects of art & history was designed by Pierre Cuypers.

Until recently the building was under renovation and was reopened in 2013.

Art Collection

The museum holds some true highlights such as Rembrandt’s ‘Night Watch’. Besides this painting other artists’ works are of the likes of: Johannes Vermeer, Jan Steen & Karel Appel.
