Canal Boat Trips in Amsterdam

Canal Boat Cruise Trip

There are a lot of different companies that can offer a boat trip through the canals in Amsterdam. Today there are about 200 special vessels which offer a variety of cruises. A quarter of these cruise boats are now electrically powered providing a clean and silent trip.

The greenest canal cruise is provided by Rederij Lieve who not only equipped their boat with electrical propulsion but acquired a share in a windmill.

Another company that offers a wide selection of canal cruises in Amsterdam is Canal Bus.  There are cruises by day and night and most of their cruises depart on a regular basis.

They have an audio guide on board & free wi-fi so you can send your favourite photos to your friends from the boat! This makes a canal cruise the perfect way to explore Amsterdam.

Where to buy the ticket?

These cards can be purchased at various places in Amsterdam and also on the Tram itself. We would not recommend this since they charge a premium price when the ticket is bought on the tram itself.

We would recommend buying these online at GVB. There are various places where you can also top up a card if you have already bought a card.
